AUXILIARY MAGAZINE ADVERT DESIGN

FINAL PRODUCT

First draft before feedback
This is the first draft of our magazine advert which was created on Photoshop using our own original images. When creating the advert we continued the theme of colourful and playfulness as you can see with the  geometric repeating pattern of pink, blue, yellow and green Pacman/Spaceinvader type pattern, with its flourescent candy type colours. Our target audience would relate very readily to this iconography because it speaks of computer games. Video games has a huge market even greater than the music and film industry so we are tapping into these messages and values to market our product.

The middle part of the advert features television screens from an enormously famour and video installation called  'Information Superhighway' (Nam June Paik 1974, the Smithsonian Washington DC) which one of us filmed. We thought it was relevant to our music video because of its modern feel and its asethetic look with flourecent tubes and candy colours. Information Superhighway is a metaphor for the way that in our modern world we are all in contact with each other and information is very quickly accesible especially through internet platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. In many ways Nam June Paik was ahead of his time by creating this installation, whos messages are still valid and relevant.
